Reasons to be reticent

I was reminded today as I came into work that there is a very good reason why people following this path are encouraged to keep themselves to themselves. It's not an isolation tactic, it's survival. We might be living in the liberal West, but once something is made public about you and who you are, it is impossible to truly take it back.

The same goes for your associates and friends.

Three 'Witches' stoned and burned alive in Uganda yesterday because a taxi driver died; believed to be poisoned. The village elders took a ballot to decide who was guilty, and the three women were beaten by a mob and then burned alive.

I don't often blow my own trumpet when it comes to photography. It is something that I enjoy, and occasionally I take the odd halfway decent pic. I've had a couple of my photos blown up for friends and family, and I've built galleries on a couple of websites, but nothing too much.

Until a woman contacted me from Imagekind. They're a fine arts distributor with an on-demand printing service. She wants me to showcase my stuff. My stuff! So I went and had a look and was completely blown away by the quality of the images they use.

But when I tried to upload the digital images I do have, the file size was too small. Basically my camera is just not good enough.

So I put it aside until today, when I was sent another email with some pictures like these on it from other users. She thinks my stuff could sit along side these guys? I just don't know what to say.
